Colorado’s 10% income-tax credit on residential batteries applies to tax years through 2026, and batteries are exempt from state sales tax. If you’re leasing, the owner may claim the federal §48E credit for storage, which runs longer than for solar. Verify current terms with your tax preparer.
Backup for plains weather
Aurora outages tend to come from wind and storms rather than wildfire shutoffs. For most homes, one battery covering the fridge, furnace blower, sump pump, lights and internet is the practical starting point; adding a second makes central air possible for longer.
